The Jacksonville Bar Association’s annual Law Day luncheon and meeting begins at noon May 4 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Jacksonville Riverfront on the Southbank Downtown.
Paul Renner, Republican speaker-designate of the Florida House of Representatives and of counsel in the Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough law firm’s office in Orlando, is the keynote speaker.
Renner’s topics will include Jacksonville being included in the state’s 5th Circuit Court of Appeal; pay raises for judges, state attorneys and public defenders; and the importance of protecting and strengthening the rule of law.
The JBA will present its annual Liberty Bell Award to someone who is not an attorney but has made significant contributions to the legal community or the community at large.
The Jacksonville Daily Record Lawyer of the Year award also will be presented.
Each year, a JBA member is recognized for exemplifying the association’s characteristics, standards and values while practicing with integrity and professionalism.
The luncheon is a JBA membership benefit. Visit jaxbar.org to register and guarantee a seat.
