Two years after opening during the pandemic, a Riverside pie shop is relocating and expanding.
Mixed Fillings Pie Shop is preparing a move from 2251 Oak St. to 1049 Park St., providing a larger space.
Owner and chef Natasha Burton confirmed the business will move from the brick building it shares with other tenants and relocate into the heart of the Five Points shopping area.
The Park Street site previously housed the Rec Room bar and arcade.
Burton did not respond to more questions.
A staff member at the Oak Street location said by phone the shop expects to relocate to Five Points in the fall.
The mixedfillingspieshop.com site says the business was born in Burton’s kitchen. She has been a private chef to celebrities, professional athletes, actors, professionals and families.
“Her successful career has brought her from Dallas, Texas to the city of Jacksonville, to share her delicious recipes, knowledge of sweets and to share her kitchen skills,” it says.
She was classically trained in French culinary techniques at Le Cordon Bleu, the international culinary school.
Burton moved to Jacksonville where she opened Mixed Fillings in 2020 as the pandemic outbreak was settling in.
The Park Street location is about 1,500 square feet, according to documents filed with the city.
Mixed Fillings is promoted as a gourmet pie shop.
“Our crusts are handmade with real butter, not margarine so the flavor and texture are traditional and flaky,” says the website.
Mixed Fillings produces potpies and dessert pies such as pecan, apple, cookies and cream, lava chocolate, coconut cream, French silk, mixed berry, peach, Key lime, buttermilk and “flights” with slices of different flavors.
Most of the pie prices exceed $30.
The Oak Street shop’s walk-up business sustained the operation during the pandemic.
The store focuses on orders, which must be made by 4 p.m. for pickup from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the next day.
Pies are made to order and cannot be reserved for same-day pickup.
