HMSHost expects to open BurgerFi at Jacksonville International Airport in early October.

BurgerFi will occupy the former Brooks Brothers store in the post-security area.

Host International Inc. of Bethesda, Maryland, registered with the state Division of Corporations on Aug. 15 to do business as BurgerFi in the central concourse.

HMSHost also registered a name for Truly Bar, which is a bar within BurgerFi that will sell Truly Hard Seltzer and other options.

As of 10 a.m. Aug. 23, the BurgerFi.com site’s countdown clock for “opening soon” locations said the airport restaurant would open in 44 days and 10 hours, which would be 8 p.m. Oct. 5.

HMSHost spokesperson Shayna Iglesias said Aug. 22 that the company is saying early October because of factors that might affect a specific opening date.

The city issued a permit March 23 for Auld & White Constructors LLC to renovate 1,451 square feet of space for BurgerFi at a cost of $800,000.

The Jacksonville Aviation Authority said previously that it would be completed by late summer.

Brooks Brothers closed and does not plan to reopen.

BurgerFi is one of several restaurant groups opening new locations at the airport.

Jacksonville-based restaurants Firehouse Subs, Southern Grounds & Co. and Burrito Gallery also are opening new locations in 2023.

Post-security, Firehouse Subs is moving to a larger space in Concourse C as it loses its existing space during construction of Concourse B.

Burrito Gallery will open in Concourse A.

Southern Grounds recently opened in Concourse A and also will expand presecurity.

Southern Grounds will open a restaurant in the presecurity space previously occupied by Starbucks, Made in JAX and parts of the airport gallery.

At 2,400 square feet of space, it will be double the size of the Southern Grounds on Concourse A and offer diner seating, an all-day menu, a full-service bar and its blueberry bakery.

BurgerFi has three Jacksonville locations in Brooklyn, St. Johns Town Center and Neptune Beach.
