The city issued a permit Aug. 18 for the Village Medical at Walgreens at 12145 San Jose Blvd. in Mandarin.
Horizon Retail Construction of Sturtevant, Wisconsin is the contractor for the $936,093 project.
It will build-out a 3,173-square-foot Village Medical clinic within the Walgreens, which will continue to use the remaining space in its store for pharmacy and retail sales.
The price is higher than the others, with most of those at $625,000.
The permit comprises adding walls for the outpatient medical clinic and rearranging the remaining Walgreens space.
It is one of 10 Village Medical at Walgreens clinics opened or planned in Duval County.
As with the others, the project will add the clinic with eight exam rooms.
Walgreens and VillageMD opened the first Village Medical at Walgreens primary care practice in the Jacksonville area Feb. 15 at 105 Julington Plaza Drive in St. Johns County.
The planned and improved renovation costs so far top $6.6 million in Duval County.
In addition to Mandarin, they are in Arlington; Lakewood; Love Grove/Sans Souci; San Pablo; South Jacksonville; North Jacksonville; Northwest Jacksonville; and two in West Jacksonville.
Village Medical at Walgreens offers primary care along with pharmacy services.
The Jacksonville clinics are part of Walgreens’ effort to open 600 or more Village Medical centers by 2025 and another 400 by 2027.
Walgreens said the clinics are ideal for patients with chronic conditions who need multiple daily prescriptions. It said the clinics accept a wide range of health insurance options and offer in-person and virtual appointments.
