The Miller Electric Co. CEO joined the First Coast Business Hall of Fame and brokered a deal with the Jaguars.

The Florida Council on Economic Education’s ceremony in November celebrating Henry Brown as one of five 2022 inductees to the First Coast Business Hall of Fame capped a busy year for the Miller Electric Co. CEO.

Brown stood side-by-side in June with Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan, head coach Doug Pederson and city officials and announced Miller Electric had brokered a 10-year naming rights agreement for the NFL team’s $120 million practice and training facility under construction Downtown.

At the time, Brown said Miller Electric employees had put in more than 2 million hours working on Jaguars-related projects since the start.

“We’ve been here from the original construction of the stadium, through every renovation, and I know we’ve had members of our company here for every single home game throughout the history of the team,” Brown said in June.

“In fact, I can vividly remember walking through the gate in 1995 for the first preseason game with my grandfather, my brother and thinking wow, our city’s made it,” Brown said.

“And it’s clear, we’ve moved to the next level.”

Brown, a former JAX Chamber board chair, is the third-generation family member to serve as chief executive of Jacksonville-based Miller Electric, which was founded in 1928 by Henry G. Miller.

The company has grown from a local electrical contractor to a national company with more than 3,000 employees. It is a licensed electrical contractor in more than 40 states, according to its website.

It reported $494 million in gross revenue in 2021, up from $399.16 million in 2020.

Under Brown, the 94-year-old Miller Electric sold its former Riverside headquarters at Rosselle, Copeland and Osceola streets in May through MECO Rosselle REI LLC for $5.85 million. The company relocated to a larger leased building in 2019 in Southpoint.

Brown has spoken out personally in recent years on racial inequities in Jacksonville. In 2020, Miller Electric donated $1 million to support United Way of Northeast Florida’s focus on race, equity and social justice.
