Carnival Cruise Line said its first cruise from Jacksonville in nearly two years will depart March 7.
Carnival canceled its cruises in March 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Carnival Spirit will depart from JaxPort on a five-day cruise to the Bahamas, visiting Nassau and Princess Cays.
A 10:30 a.m. ceremony, attended by Carnival Cruise Line Vice President of Guest Operations Sarah Beth Reno and JaxPort Chair Wendy Hamilton, will welcome the first guests on board. The event and cruise also will celebrate Carnival’s 50th birthday.
The Spirit is scheduled to depart at 5 p.m.
The ship was completed in 2001 and refurbished in 2015. It has a capacity of 2,124 guests and a crew of 930.
It previously sailed from Brisbane, Australia.
Starting in May, the Carnival Elation will replace the Spirit at JaxPort.
The Elation was completed in 1998 and refurbished in 2020. It has a capacity of 2,190 guests and a crew of 900.
