NAIOP of Northeast Florida honored retired VanTrust Real Estate LLC Executive Vice President John Carey with its 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award at its March 24 annual awards gala.
Carey closed out four decades in commercial real estate at year-end 2021.
VanTrust Executive Vice President Marc Munago has worked with Carey for more than 15 years and called him a professional mentor and personal friend.
“Above all his true sense of character in dealing with things with integrity and fairness and class have had the largest impact on me,” Munago said as he introduced Carey.
Carey said he was humbled and thanked his colleagues, family and friends. “It’s just a fantastic experience,” he said.
Developer Alex Sifakis was recognized as the 2021 Downtown Investment Authority Klechak Award winner.
Sifakis is redeveloping buildings in the North Core of Downtown and developing town houses in LaVilla.
“Alex has been demonstrating an amazing commitment to promoting the revitalization of Jacksonville’s urban core,” said Steve Kelley, DIA director of Downtown real estate and development.
The annual gala honored NAIOP’s “best of 2021.” It was at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center.
