Cinco de Mayo Authentic Mexican moved 2 miles east along Atlantic Boulevard from 11892 Atlantic Blvd. to the former Jimmy Hula’s space in Harbour Place.
The restaurant posted April 1 on its Facebook page that it was now open at 13170 Atlantic Blvd.
The new location is the eastern end unit where Jimmy Hula’s closed in the Publix Super Markets Inc.-anchored shopping center at Atlantic Boulevard near Hodges Boulevard. Publix also is the landlord.
Cinco de Mayo posted March 23 on Facebook that its previous location was closed and it was moving.
“The location has plenty of room to accommodate around 200 people including the patio,” it said. The bar has 15 seats.
The city is reviewing a permit for a free-standing canopy on the patio.
A staff person who answered the telephone April 29 said the restaurant opened about a month ago and closed March 22 in Kernan Village at southwest Atlantic and Kernan boulevards.
He said he estimated the restaurant will seat about the same number of people.
He also said the restaurant was serving beer and wine, and wine-based drinks, while waiting for its license to serve alcohol.
Cincodemayo.com says the Torres-Leon family, from Jalisco, Mexico, started in Jacksonville with one restaurant “in the early days of the Jacksonville Landing.”

Cinco de Mayo lists four open locations. Along Crystal Springs Road in West Jacksonville, in St. Johns County in Palencia and Murabella and in Harbour Place.
It says a fifth will open in Palm Coast.
The menu includes salads, nachos, quesadillas, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, tacos, steaks, seafood, specials, vegetarian and vegan items.
It opens at 11 a.m. daily and closes at 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday and at 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday.
There are lunch specials 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The closed Kernan West restaurant was built on 1.33 acres in 2003. It is about 6,500 square feet.
It originally was leased to Johnny Carino’s Country Italian and then became a seafood restaurant before it, too, closed.
A franchisee of the Dallas-based Twin Peaks restaurant chain intends to renovate and open there.
