Twin Peaks Restaurant is nearing development at southwest Kernan and Atlantic boulevards in the former Cinco de Mayo building that began as Johnny Carino’s.

The city is reviewing civil engineering plans submitted Sept. 23 for conversion of the East Arlington restaurant for Twin Peaks at 11892 Atlantic Blvd. Cinco de Mayo moved to Harbour Place.

Plans show the 6,793-square-foot building will add 350 square feet of interior dining space and a 675-square-foot patio addition. There also is a 300-square-foot cooler addition.

The restaurant will be 8,118 square feet on 1.33 acres.

JM Civil Engineering of Allen, Texas, is the civil engineer.

Franchise owner Moussa Haidar filed a fictitious name with the state June 9 to do business as Twin Peaks Restaurant. He said by email Oct. 2 it could open in April 2023.

The project is a renovation and remodel of the existing restaurant.

The Dallas-based Twin Peaks sports bar and restaurant chain calls itself “the ultimate sports lodge featuring made-from-scratch food and the coldest beer in the business surrounded by scenic views and the latest in high-definition TVs.”

The menu includes appetizers, wings, burgers, sandwiches, tacos, soups, salads, sides, desserts and entrees.

Haidar said previously he expects to invest up to $3 million to remodel the building.

The closed Kernan West restaurant was built in 2003. It originally was leased to Johnny Carino’s Country Italian and then became a seafood restaurant before it, too, closed.

Twin Peaks says 90% of its restaurants are conversions of existing free-standing casual dining restaurant locations.

There are nine in Florida, with the closest to Jacksonville in Altamonte Springs.

Twinpeaksfranchise.com says Twin Peaks is built upon five brand pillars – “The Twin Peaks Girls, made-from-scratch food, 29° draft beer, sports on wall-to-wall TVs, and of course, the local lodge atmosphere.”

“Our Twin Peaks Girls are the essential ingredient to the perfect lodge experience. They are the beautiful faces that represent the brand and the reason our customers consistently come back for more. Equal parts friendly, engaging and attentive, our Twin Peaks Girls ensure every guest feels like a regular,” Twinpeaksrestaurant.com explains.
