The ModWash car wash company intends to build a 3,618-square-foot location along Beachwalk Shore Drive in Beachwalk.
St. Johns County received an application for the project.
ModWash is an express car wash that operates 54 locations in nine states with four more coming soon to enter Georgia and Virginia.
It has 11 locations open in Florida and six under construction. Beachwalk is not listed.
Carwash.com, citing timesfreepress.com, reported in July 2020 that Chattanooga, Tennessee-based Hutton, a real estate, development and investment firm, launched ModWash with plans to open 100 locations by the end of 2023.
Hutton also is associated with Mr. Clean Car Wash.
Hutton bought a 0.84-acre site of a former gas station in Clay County for development of a Mr. Clean Car Wash.
