The Statewide Nominating Commission for Judges of Compensation Claims seeks one attorney from the 5th appellate district, which includes the 4th Judicial Circuit, to serve the remainder of a four-year term starting Jan. 1.

Applicants must be a member of The Florida Bar and engaged in the practice of law. No attorney who appears before any judge of compensation claims more than four times a year is eligible to serve on the commission, pursuant to state law.

Commissioners are not eligible for state judicial vacancies filled by the commission on which they sit for two years following the expiration of their term.

Commissioners are subject to Florida financial disclosure laws. Meetings and deliberations are open to the public.

Lawyers interested in applying for the vacancy may call Bar headquarters at 850-561-5757 to obtain the application form.

Completed applications must be received no later than the close of business Oct. 21.

The board of governors will review all applications and may request telephone or personal interviews.
