Jacksonville International Airport will be closed Thursday, Sept. 29, as Hurricane Ian approaches Northeast Florida.
The airport announced the closure at 11:42 p.m. Sept. 28 on social media.
"All flights tomorrow are cancelled and the airport terminal is closed. Contact your airline for rebooking options," the airport said.
"The airport will reopen as soon as airlines resume flight operations. If you’re traveling those days the best thing to do is check flight status with your airline for the most up-to-date information."
City and courthouse offices and schools also are closed until Oct.3.
Update
The airport announced on social media Sept. 28 it will reopen Friday, Sept. 30, with limited food service.
"Some airlines will operate on reduced schedules, so it’s important to check flight status w/them before heading to the terminal. The TSA security checkpoint will open at 7 am.," it said on Facebook.
