The city issued a permit April 17 for Auld & White Constructors LLC to build Community First Credit Union’s Northpoint Village branch and drive-thru at a construction cost of $1.7 million.

The North Jacksonville branch is at 3133 New Berlin Road in a shopping center anchored by Publix Super Markets Inc. at Yellow Bluff and New Berlin roads.

According to the permit, the free-standing branch comprises 3,148 square feet of enclosed space and 1,800 square feet of unenclosed space.

John Hirabayashi, CEO and president of Community First, speaks at the Feb. 7 groundbreaking for its branch at 3133 New Berlin Road in the Publix-anchored Northpoint Village shopping center.

The credit union serves people who live, work or attend school in Baker, Brevard, Broward, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Indian River, Lake, Martin, Nassau, Orange, Palm Beach, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie and Volusia counties.

One of several new locations, the New Berlin Road project is part of the credit union’s Branch Transformation Project, a comprehensive improvement to member service by configuring the spaces to create a more modern retail experience.

The new branch interiors feature upgrades including an open floor plan and advanced digital technologies.

It features Community First’s new design and a historical mural depicting the history of Cedar Point and North Jacksonville.

It is the credit union’s 20th location and its first new, free-standing branch with a drive-thru.

Community First expects to open its Northpoint Village branch by year-end.

The credit union broke ground Feb. 7.

Auld & White Constructors is the contractor and TTV Architects is the architect.

Community First bought the 1.04-acre lot for $1 million in July 2022.
