Permit issued for Five Below to build-out in Gateway Town Center

The teen merchandiser is leasing next to Burlington, which also is renovating space at the Brentwood area property.

The city issued a permit Aug. 9 for Williams & Rowe Co. Inc. to renovate retail space for teen merchandiser Five Below at Gateway Town Center in the Brentwood area at a job cost of $963,482.

The project is the improvement of 9,321 square feet at 5258 Norwood Ave. Barr Architecture Inc. of Davie is the architect.

Five Below Inc., based in Philadelphia, calls itself “the trend-right, high-quality, extreme-value retailer for tweens, teens and beyond.”

It sells merchandise at “$1 to $5 & beyond.”

Five Below has eight stores in Northeast Florida and is adding another at Southside Commons in the Regency area. Gateway would be its 10th.

Gateway Town Center, which opened more than 60 years ago in the Norwood area north of Downtown, also is adding national off-price retailer Burlington next to Five Below.

Landlord Jim Goldsmith said previously he expects Burlington and Five Below to open in the fall, pending construction permits.

Goldsmith is president and CEO of Gator Investments in Miami Lakes.

The city issued a permit July 26 for Williams & Rowe Co. to build-out space for Burlington at Gateway.

The $750,000 project will remodel 24,066 square feet of space at 5258 Norwood Ave.

For Five Below in the Regency area, the city issued a permit July 6 for Management Resource System Inc. of High Point, North Carolina, to build-out space in the Southside Commons shopping center.

The contractor will renovate 14,972 square feet at 651 Commerce Center Drive, No. 600, at a project cost of $500,000. The Southside Commons shopping center is at southeast Southside Connector and Tredinick Parkway.

Barr Architecture Inc. of Davie is the architect.

The store is next to Ross Dress For Less, which is adjacent to the Michaels arts and crafts store.

Philadelphia-based Five Below Inc. has eight stores in Northeast Florida. Southside Commons and Gateway Town Center will be the ninth and 10th.
