TownePlace Suites by Marriott is develping at least two area hotels.

The brand is one of four extended-stay hotels in Marriott International’s company portfolio.

Middleburg

Clay Town Center announced Jan. 30 it is adding a five-story TownePlace Suites by Marriott at 1625 Jeremiah St. in Middleburg in Clay County.

Construction will start in the second quarter of 2023, with an estimated opening in late summer of 2024.

The 95,000-square-foot hotel will feature 126 rooms comprising studios and one- and two-bedroom suites. All rooms include a kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and stovetop, as well as larger work areas.

The release said all TownePlace Suites by Marriott are designed to provide accommodations for business travelers, vacationers and others who seek longer-term stays.

Amenities include a swimming pool, on-site fitness center, indoor-outdoor dining, barbecue grills, a lakefront fire pit, convenience store and guest laundry facility.

The pet-friendly hotel offers a free hot breakfast every day, as well as free high-speed internet.

The announcement said the property is across the street from Ascension St. Vincent’s Clay County Hospital and near Cecil Commerce Center.

“Given the rapid growth of our community, there is a need for an extended stay hotel in the area to provide housing for business travelers, workers helping support the growth of Clay County, families visiting loved ones or local sporting events, as well as visitors to the Cecil Commerce Center,” said Rick Friedman of Paradigm Development Partners, developer of Clay Town Center.

The hotel is a partnership between Clay Town Center Hospitality and Kellogg & Kimsey Inc.

Mayport

The city of Jacksonville is reviewing a permit application for a three-story TownePlace Suites by Marriott at 2580 Mayport Road.

D.R. Patel Construction LLC of Ponte Vedra Beach is the contractor for the $7.9 million project. BRR Architecture of Overland Park, Kansas, is the architect.

Neptune Beach Lodging LLC, an affiliate of Shivam Property Management LLC, of Jacksonville Beach is the developer.

The 93-unit hotel is almost 55,000 square feet. It is being developed on 2.03 acres.
