Chipotle approved for Atlantic North

The chain is building-out space for a 72-seat restaurant at 11901 Atlantic Blvd.

The city issued a permit June 28 for tenant improvements for Chipotle Mexican Grill in the Atlantic North shopping center at northwest Kernan and Atlantic boulevards in East Arlington.

Caliber 1 Construction Inc. of Villa Rica, Georgia, is the contractor for the $544,974 build-out of 2,607 square feet at 11901 Atlantic Blvd.

It will have 50 interior seats and 22 patio seats.

The restaurant is in an end unit of a four-unit building on an Atlantic North outparcel. 

The landlord is Sleiman Enterprises.

A site plan shows the Outparcel B building will feature Chipotle and GNC as two tenants in the building. There is space for two more tenants.

Belk, LA Fitness and Academy Sports + Outdoors are the anchor tenants at Atlantic North.

Newport Beach, California-based Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. has at least 14 stores in Northeast Florida.

The publicly traded company said June 6 it had more than 3,200 restaurants as of March 31 in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Germany.

It said it is the only restaurant company of its size that owns and operates all its restaurants.
