The Jacksonville Aviation Authority board is scheduled to vote July 27 on ratifying a contract up to $6.9 million to RS&H Inc. for engineering design and construction phase services for the proposed third parking garage at Jacksonville International Airport.
JAA’s awards committee recommended and CEO Mark VanLoh approved the contract, which must be ratified by the board because it is more than $1 million.
The contract is for Jacksonville-based RS&H to plan, design, permit and handle construction administration services for the garage.
The submission for board approval says management recommends approval of the contract to RS&H, which was the highest ranked of six respondents to a request for qualifications for engineering consultant services for the garage project.
The not-to-exceed amount is $6,935,287.
The board is scheduled to meet at 8:30 a.m. July 27 on the third-floor Ed Austin Board Room at the JAA Administration Building at 14201 Pecan Park Road near the airport.
In January, the board approved a budget transfer of $10 million to start the creation of a capital project to design the third parking garage that would add about 2,000 spaces.
The garage would provide 1,600 public parking spaces and 400 rental car spaces.
The facility, envisioned as six levels, is designed next to the existing daily garage and projected to cost about $100 million.
Construction funding would be sought in fiscal 2024.
The project would be completed by the fourth quarter of 2024 or first quarter of 2025.
