Applicants sought for Duval County bench

The deadline to apply is Aug. 7, with interviews scheduled Aug. 18.

With the elevation of Judge Jonathan Sacks to the 4th Judicial Circuit Court, there is a vacancy on the Duval County Court bench. 

Gov. Ron DeSantis directs the 4th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission to provide him with qualified nominees.

Applications may be downloaded from the Florida Bar’s website at floridabar.org or the Office of the Governor’s website at flgov.com.

Complete unredacted and redacted applications for the vacancy must be received before 5 p.m. Aug. 7 via email to: [email protected].

Interviews will be conducted Aug. 18  in Chief Judge Lance Day’s chambers on the seventh floor of the Duval County Courthouse. Interviews are open to the public. The commission’s deliberations are conducted confidentially.

Applicants must meet the qualifications for judges outlined in Article V, Section 8 of the Florida Constitution.
