Warm, sunny weather Feb. 25 brought thousands of people to the 13th annual Jacksonville Bar Association Young Lawyers Section Chili Cook-off at the Riverside Arts Market.
Through sponsorships and entry fees, the event raised more than $25,000 for The Laundry Project, a local nonprofit that pays for services at laundromats for residents in low-income neighborhoods.
The prize for Best Overall chili and the North Florida Financial Championship Belt, selected by a panel of 4th Circuit and Duval County judges, was presented to the Vernis & Bowling law firm “Caddyshack” team.
Prizes were awarded in seven other categories:
• Cobb & Gonzalez, Crowd Favorite.
• Nichols & Pina, Best Fixins.
• Cobb & Gonzalez, Most Original chili.
• Gunster, Best Cornbread.
• Coker Law, Meatiest chili.
• Woolsey Morcom, Spiciest chili.
• Coleman Talley, Most Team Spirit.
