After Walmart Inc. said in March it was cutting 69 field maintenance operations workers tied to a Jacksonville facility, the company filed a second notice April 26 under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act saying it is cutting 14 more jobs.
That brings the total layoffs to 83, representing more than one-third of field maintenance workers in Florida who report to the facility at 8120 Nations Way.
Walmart’s March 20 WARN letter said the first 69 employees were notified Feb. 7 and the layoffs would be effective as of May 19.
The April 26 letter said the additional 14 workers were notified April 10 and their jobs will be eliminated effective July 14.
All affected employees can apply for other open positions in the company during a 90-day paid job search period, the company said.
