Two more Kohl’s Department Stores in Jacksonville are adding Sephora shops.
The city issued permits May 22 for Buch Construction Inc. in Tampa to renovate space to add 2,500-square-foot Sephora shops in the Kohl’s stores in the Atlantic West shopping center and in OakLeaf Town Center. Each project is $268,000.
The Atlantic West store is at 11824 Atlantic Blvd. and the OakLeaf location is at 9701 Crosshill Blvd.
Plans call for interior renovation in the center core of the sales floor and exterior painting. Casco of St. Louis, Missouri, is the architect.
The Kohl’s stores are about 90,000 square feet in size.
All five Northeast Florida Kohl’s department stores are adding Sephora shops.
The first was when the Kohl’s store in the Shoppes at Bartram Park remodeled 2,500 square feet in 2021 to add a Sephora beauty products department.
Sephora USA Inc. is based in San Francisco. It is part of Paris-based LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, a luxury goods group.
Sephora has more than 2,700 stores in 35 countries worldwide, with an expanding base of more than 500 stores across the Americas. In Jacksonville, it has one in St. Johns Town Center.
Sephora.com says the long-term strategic partnership with Kohl’s “offers a fully immersive, premium beauty destination, prominently located at the front of Kohl’s store(s).”
It says Sephora at Kohl’s officially opened its first location in August 2021 in Ramsey, New Jersey, and exclusively launched its beauty selection on Kohls.com, with about 125 of Sephora’s brands.
It said 200 locations opened in the fall of 2021, and shoppers can expect at least 850 by 2023.
Sephora had operated shops in J.C. Penney Co. Inc. department stores but closed those as Penney reorganized under bankruptcy laws.
The “Sephora at Kohl’s” are opening as Target Corp. adds Ulta Beauty shops within its stores.
Like Sephora, Ulta Beauty also has separate branded stores.
