Jacksonville Area Legal Aid will take part in the inaugural Military Financial Wellness Summit 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 9 at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
The program is a collaboration of VyStar Credit Union, the Jacksonville Bar Association, the Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar Association, the Business Law Section of The Florida Bar, Florida Blue, JALA and other community organizations.
A variety of topics will be covered at the summit, all of which will help our veteran community learn how to make educated financial decisions and avoid potential pitfalls.
The program will include Ask-A-Lawyer, where people may receive brief counsel and advice from attorneys based on their areas of expertise.
As we expect a large turnout, JALA is seeking attorneys to volunteer for Ask-A-Lawyer. Attorneys can easily fulfill their pro bono hours commitment by assisting in this outreach event.
In addition, JALA’s Veterans Services Unit, the JBA and JBBA will host a one-hour CLE titled “Bankruptcy 101 and Veterans Cultural Competency” on Nov. 15 at 1:15 p.m., immediately after the JBA luncheon.
