The city of Jacksonville’s website has a new URL while retaining the functionality of its former one.

COJ.net is now Jacksonville.gov. The change occurred Nov. 4.

All coj.net links will remain active and take users to the jacksonville.gov website.

Mayor Donna Deegan wanted the website to be more accessible to users. The website has a familiar but new look.

In time, it will have an AI chat bot to help users navigate the site, Phillip Perry, chief communications officer, said in an email.

City email addresses remain the same for the time being with the @coj.net ender.

The changes were made by the in-house by the Information Technologies Division.

“Projects of a similar scope have cost millions of dollars for other cities. The fact that we built such a beautiful and engaging website with existing city resources is a significant cost savings for taxpayers,” Perry wrote.

The is no marketing strategy or budget. The city plans to use the new URL in existing marketing materials and collateral over time.
