JBA past presidents leading independent city authorities

Michelle Barnett, Daniel Bean take spots.

Two past presidents of the Jacksonville Bar Association will lead the boards of directors of the Jacksonville Aviation Authority and Jacksonville Port Authority for the 2023-24 fiscal year.

Michelle Barnett, an attorney and founding shareholder with Alexander DeGance Barnett, is the new JAA board chair. She was JBA president in the 2020-21 Bar year.

Barnett previously was a member of the board of Girl Scouts of Gateway Council and the Jacksonville Housing Authority and a member of the 4th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission.

The aviation authority operates Jacksonville International Airport, Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport, Herlong Recreational Airport and Cecil Airport.

Daniel Bean

Daniel Bean, founding partner at ABL Law and 2009-10 JBA president, is the new chair of the JPA board.

Bean currently is board chairman of K9s for Warriors, president of the USS Orleck Naval Ship Museum, treasurer for the Five Star Veterans Center and is a former board chairman of WJCT.
