Burlington relocating in Southwest Jacksonville

The Lake Gray Boulevard store will close and move to Argyle Village Shopping Center.

Burlington Stores Inc. announced Sept. 7 that it will open a store this fall at Argyle Village Shopping Center, 6001-24 Argyle Forest Blvd., in Southwest Jacksonville.

The company said in a news release it will be a relocation of the store it will close at 6000 Lake Gray Blvd. in Westland Park Plaza, about a mile from the Argyle Village location. 

The opening date will be announced later.

Burlington said by email June 23 that its Argyle Village location was coming this fall and would share more information as that time draws closer.

Burlington will replace home goods retailer Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., which has been liquidating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The city has been reviewing a permit application for Burlington in 25,887 square feet of space at an estimated cost of $500,000 project.

Burlington asks those interested in jobs to apply at BurlingtonStores.jobs.

Burlington Stores Inc., headquartered in New Jersey, is a national off-price retailer with annual net sales of $8.7 billion.

The company operated 939 stores as of the end of the second quarter of 2023 in 46 states and Puerto Rico, principally under the name Burlington Stores. 

Burlington has been adding stores. It confirmed in a statement April 27 that it would open a store in Gateway Town Center in the Brentwood area.

“Our team is always looking for great locations to house a new Burlington. We look forward to opening this new location in Fall 2023, making this our 6th store in the area,” it said.

“In addition to great bargains, the store will also bring approximately 65-75 new jobs to the community.”

The city issued a permit July 26 for Williams & Rowe Co. Inc. to build-out space for Burlington at Gateway Town Center. The $750,000 project will remodel 24,066 square feet of space at 5258 Norwood Ave. 

Burlington, based in Burlington, New Jersey, sells clothing and accessories for men, women, children and babies and also sells home goods and, reflecting its former name, coats. It was long known as Burlington Coat Factory.

Burlington has five area stores in Regency Plaza, Old St Augustine Plaza, Westland Park Plaza, River City Marketplace and Saint Johns.
