Adventure Landing in Jacksonville Beach won’t be closing at the end of the year after all.
The theme park, at 1944 Beach Blvd., announced Sept. 8 it will remain open through September 2024.
The park property is planned for an apartment development by Trevato Development Group and was scheduled to close Dec. 31.
“Adventure Landing is pleased to report that, as of now, a new agreement with the landlord of their Jacksonville Beach location to extend operations through September 2024,” the company said in a news release.
The company said is seeking to hire more than 300 people and that is the largest youth employer in Duval County.
Adventure Landing says it has been in business for more than 29 years, attracting an average of 500,000 guests per year. It is now selling season passes for 2024 with the remainder of 2023 for free.
Adventure Landing said that its story “will not end in 2024” and that it continues to explore other locations in the Jacksonville area to build a water park.
The apartment project at the Adventure Landing site has been delayed several times. The park originally intended to close Oct. 31, 2021.
Zoning for the project was approved in November 2022 after developers reduced the number of apartments to 415, agreed to provide access to the marsh, allow for a “Welcome to Jacksonville Beach” sign on its property and set aside 30 units for affordable housing.
JB Fair Park MF LLC, which shares an address with Trevato, bought the Adventure Landing property in 2021 for $7.87 million.
