City: Metropolitan Park designer hired by parks department

A news release incorrectly said the Denver-based company was hired by the Downtown Investment Authority.

City officials said April 23 that the Denver-based firm selected to do design work on Metropolitan Park was hired by the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, not the Downtown Investment Authority.

An April 22 news release from Agency PR said the DIA hired the landscape architecture and design firm Civitas, but city officials confirmed that the contract came through a request for proposals from the parks department. 

The news release said Civitas was part of an April 17 meeting to gather public input on redesigns of the Northbank park south of EverBank Stadium and adjacent to the WJCT studios on Gator Bowl Boulevard.
