The Taste of Thai restaurant at 4317 University Blvd. S. says it closed Aug. 1 because of a damaged roof.

There is a condemned sign on the front door.

The restaurant website says that the damage was aggravated by heavy rains.

“We’re temporarily closed for building repairs! Due to the recent heavy rains our building is having roof issues and the entire building is being closed until repairs are complete the landlord and city allow the building to be reopened. We’re sorry for the short notice — it just happened today (August 1). We don’t have more information yet about when we’ll reopen but we’ll post again as soon as we know. Thank you for your patience and we cannot wait to see you again soon!”

The restaurant’s phone message Aug. 8 suggested customers check the Taste of Thai Jax Facebook page for developments.

The restaurant opened in 1997. It served lunch Tuesday through Friday and dinner Tuesday through Saturday. It was closed Sunday and Monday.
