It’s a nonsports over-under bet.

This wager is taking place in the world of real estate.

A 12,500-square-foot home at 1263 Ponte Vedra Blvd. will be auctioned with no reserve.

The auction is scheduled for 5 p.m. Feb. 23.

The home sits on 1.5 acres with 200 feet of ocean frontage. It is about 1.6 miles south of Mickler’s Landing.

Owners Daniel and Carol Wildermuth purchased the property for $6.3 million in April 2019. They asked $11.9 million for the property when it went on the market in July 2023. There were no takers.

With no reserve, the highest bid wins.

Platinum Luxury Auctions is brokering the sale.

Over the past six months, it auctioned a house on the Intracoastal Waterway for $6 million and another in Ponte Vedra Beach for $3 million, according to a news release.

Whatever the winning bid is, the buyer can expect to pay an additional 11% as the “auction buyer premium,” said David Ashcroft, Platinum’s managing director.

The St. Johns County Property Appraiser placed a taxable value of $5,413,727 and a just market value of $8,052,523 on the property.

The Mediterranean-style home comprises six bedrooms and seven full and three half-baths. It has two gourmet kitchens, a media room, a private elevator, a fitness center, an executive office/study and a six-car garage. The home contains a 2,200-bottle temperature-controlled wine cellar.

Outside, there is a resort-style pool deck and a lagoon-themed pool and spa. The area is decorated with faux rocks. It offers a variety of spaces for dining and entertaining. The beachwalk stretches from the back of the home to the ocean.

The property drew national attention in December when it was erroneously reported by several media sources that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid $20 million for the house.

The first hint that there might be inaccuracies was that the house was said to be in Vero Beach rather than Ponte Vedra Beach. Fact-checking by USA Today and Newsweek proved the rumor to be false.

“I can confirm the property has not been sold to Zelenskyy or to any other nation’s leader,” Ashcroft said in the release.

“Perhaps the rumor’s author felt the property looked fit for a president!”

Interested parties can make an appointment to tour the home by calling Walter Cerini, project manager at Luxury Platinum Auctions, at 800-939-1672.

Tours are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Feb. 22. Potential bidders must register to participate.
