Jim’s Place, a longtime Arlington nightclub, sold Jan. 16 for $1 million.

Owner and operator Jim Jones III, 78, closed the club Jan. 1 after 33 years. He decided to retire and sell his business and liquor license.

The buyer was the law firm Parady & Zikakis of Fort Lauderdale through Arlington Florida LP.

Jones and Keith Cornell Jones II were the sellers.

Jim Jones III bought the former TGI Fridays building and started Jim’s Place in 1991.

Jim’s Place sits on 1.84 acres at 7900 Arlington Expressway. It opened in 1991 in a former TGI Fridays restaurant building.

The same company purchased the neighboring properties at 7820 and 7960 Arlington Expressway in April 2022.

Theotokos Holdings LLC of Jacksonville Beach sold the 4.8 acres at 7820 Arlington Expressway for $2.2 million. The building was formerly an FBI headquarters.

Omega Group Center LLC of Aventura sold the 9.56 acres at 7960 Arlington Expressway for $4.8 million.

The properties had been vacant since 2009.

In 2021, the Jacksonville City Council granted up to $820,000 in city property tax rebates to help turn the properties into about 118 market-rate apartments.

The legislation said Theotokos Holdings committed to have the project completed by Dec. 31, 2023, however nothing has been built there.
