The 118-room AC Hotel by Marriott in St. Johns Town Center plans to open in March.
The opening is “just in time for the PLAYERS Tournament,” according to an email Jan. 30 from a spokesperson for the hotel developers.
The Players Championship is March 12-17 at the Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach.
The first date shown as available on the hotel website is March 31, with rates starting at $195.
The opening was announced Jan. 30 by shopping center owner Simon and OTO Development, who said they are partners in the hotel.
OTO Development, based in Spartanburg, South Carolina, develops and manages hotels. It is part of The Johnson Group, also headquartered Spartanburg.
“This is a fantastic hotel brand – travelers love staying at AC Hotels by Marriott, and we love owning and operating them,” said Todd Turner, CEO of OTO Development, in a news release.
“We enjoy a well-established partnership with Simon, and we’re particularly eager to open the doors of our AC Hotel in the heart of Jacksonville’s St. Johns Town Center.”
The Town Center hotel will be the 10th owned or managed by OTO. It is the fourth AC Hotel by Marriott property at a Simon property.
The four-story, 71,700-square-foot project at 5323 Big Island Drive includes 1,400 square feet of meeting space, fitness center and an outdoor pool.
“With an excellent location in St. Johns Town Center, Jacksonville’s premier shopping destination, I’m confident this AC Hotel will serve as a fantastic destination for both locals and visitors alike,” said Noah Silverman, Marriott International’s global development officer, U.S. & Canada.
It is the first AC Hotel in Northeast Florida. The closest locations are in Gainesville and Orlando.
“The synergy created by connecting this premier shopping center and innovative hotel brand is yet another example of how we continue to differentiate Simon properties for our consumers,” said Patrick Peterman, Simon senior vice president of mixed-use.
“St. Johns Town Center continues to be a destination for top brands and experiences, and this new hospitality offering adds yet another lifestyle option for visitors to enjoy.”
