Kerry Watson and Huson Gilberstadt named to new roles at UF Health St. Johns

The two bring hospital leadership credentials to the jobs of interim CEO and chief medical officer.

UF Health St. Johns announced June 3 it named Kerry Watson as its interim CEO and Huson Gilberstadt as chief medical officer.  

Watson will oversee the integration of UF Health St. Johns with the UF Health system, according to a news release.

Gilberstadt will oversee patient care and clinical effectiveness. 

In September 2023 UF Health merged with Flagler Health + to become UF Health St. Johns. At the time of the merger, Carlton DeVooght was Flagler Health+ CEO.

Before taking the position, Watson was interim CEO for the Maui Health System in Hawaii. He managed daily operations at Maui Memorial Medical Center, Maui Memorial Medical Center Outpatient Clinic, Kula Hospital, Kula Clinic and Lanai Community Hospital.

He worked in the Duke University Health System for 15 years.

“As one UF Health, we are committed to the long-term success of UF Health St. Johns. Kerry’s extensive background will be a stabilizing force in this period of integration,” Steve Motew, president and system CEO of UF Health, said in the release.

Most recently, Gilberstadt worked as a medical consultant for information services companies GLG and AlphaSights.

Before that, he held leadership roles with the Ascension medical group including chief medical officer and president of Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital in Jacksonville.
