Community First Credit Union began construction June 10 on a branch in the master-planned Beachwalk community in St. Johns County.

The 525 Beachwalk Shore Drive location is expected to open in early 2025.

It will be the Jacksonville-based credit union’s 23rd location in Northeast Florida.

Community First paid $2.05 million for the land in November 2023.

Auld & White Constructors is the contractor. TTV Architects is the architect.

The project cost is $1.7 million.

The 3,150-square-foot branch will feature a full-service lobby, drive-thru and two ATMs. According to the credit union’s website, the location will have an open floor plan, upgraded digital technology and “a historical mural depicting the history of eastern St. Johns.”

The Community First Credit Union’s 3,000-square-foot Murabella branch has a full-service drive-thru and two ATMs.

The branch is planned to serve about 4,000 Community First members living within 5 miles of the retail center.

“The Beachwalk and greater eastern St. Johns County are growing rapidly,” said John Hirabayashi, CEO and president of Community First, in a  news release.

“Community First is expanding our branch network to better serve residents where they live.”

Beachwalk will be the credit union’s third branch in St. Johns County.

The credit union recently opened its 20th branch at Northpoint Village in North Jacksonville, its 21st branch at Boulevard Crossing at northwest Beach and University boulevards and its 22nd branch in Murabella in St. Johns County.

It announced May 31 it bought property for a Callahan branch, which will become its 24th branch and the second in Nassau County when it opens in 2025.

The credit union also is building a new location for its Baymeadows branch in Southside Quarter on Gate Parkway.
