Starbucks Coffee Co. will build a restaurant in the Treaty Oaks community in St. Johns County.
It will be the Seattle-based coffee chain’s 15th location in the county, according to starbucks.com.
The county approved a building permit application June 24 for Orlando-based CCS Construction to build a 2,650-square-foot free-standing store with a drive-thru at 40 Sembler Drive off Florida 207.
The project cost is $978,000.
The 1-acre site is east of Southeast Veterinary Hospital and west of the Publix supermarket in Treaty Oaks Marketplace.
Site plans show 42 parking spaces.
On sembler.com, St. Petersburg-based developer Sembler said “Starbucks will join a strong tenant lineup including Sushi 99, Marco’s Pizza, Mavis Tire, Heartland Dental and Hair Cuttery.”
GB St. Augustine LLC, which is affiliated with Sembler, is the landowner.
England-Thims & Miller, Inc. of Jacksonville is the civil engineer. Cuhachi Peterson of Maitland is the architect.
Starbucks sells coffee-based drinks, tea, breakfast foods, sandwiches and salads.
According to its website, Starbucks was founded in 1971 in Seattle. It began adding drive-thrus to stores in 1994.
It expects to approach 45,000 stores globally by the end of 2025.
