City to host March 6 community meeting about Downtown Jacksonville public projects

The 5 p.m. event at the Main Library is the first of several to provide opportunities to comment.

The city has scheduled the first of a series of community meetings about Downtown Jacksonville public projects. 

The first is scheduled 5-8 p.m. March 6 at the Jacksonville Main Public Library Hicks Auditorium at 303 N. Laura St. Downtown.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and the presentation starts at 5:30 p.m.

The event is open to the first 350 participants.

Mayor Donna Deegan and District 7 City Council member Jimmy Peluso, who represents Downtown, are the elected officials scheduled to attend.

Scheduled panelists are Lori Boyer, CEO of the Downtown Investment Authority; Ina Mezini, DIA strategic initiatives coordinator; Darryl Joseph, director of city Parks, Recreation and Community Services; Jill Enz, chief of natural and marine resources with the parks, recreation and services department; and Nina Sickler, director of city Public Works.

Laura Phillips Edgecomb, Jessie Ball duPont Fund principal of Downtown Public Spaces, is the moderator.

Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and provide comment after the presentation, 

The next meetings will involve open houses that highlight specific projects. The city will later announce the times, dates and places.
