Bento restaurants close in Riverside and Jacksonville Beach

The Markets at St. Johns Town Center location remains open.

Two of the three Bento Asian Kitchen + Sushi restaurants in the area in have closed: the Riverside location at 50 Riverside Ave. and the Jacksonville Beach location at 1198 Beach Blvd.

Both locations opened in 2021.

The Markets at St. Johns Town Center store at 4860 Big Island Drive No. 1 remains open,  according to a manager.

Bento corporate offices did not comment on the closings.

Bento Asian Kitchen + Sushi specializes in Asian food from Japan, China, Taiwan and Korea.

Brothers Jimmy and Johnny Tung started the chain in 2002 in Gainesville, according to its website. 

It has 20 Florida locations in Jacksonville, Gainesville, metro Orlando, Boca Raton, Dania Beach, Davie, Pembroke Pines, Sarasota, St. Petersburg and Tallahassee.

The restaurant is a franchise operation that has about 900 employees in its restaurants.

The Tung brothers also operate Norikase at 9734 Deer Lake Court in the Shoppes of Tinseltown. The restaurant, which opened last fall, specializes in Omakase, which translates to “I leave it up to you.” The omakase chef creates a multi-course meal for the customer.
