JBA elects 2024-25 executive committee

Officers and board of governors will be sworn in June 27.

The Jacksonville Bar Association board of governors selected its 2024-25 executive committee at its annual retreat at The Florida Yacht Club.

George

President Christian George is managing partner of the Akerman law firm’s office in Jacksonville.

He is a past president of the JBA Young Lawyers Section and The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division. 

A graduate of the University of Florida Levin College of Law, George was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2007.

President-elect Brian Coughlin is a director at The Bedell Firm.

He is a former chair of The Florida Bar Professional Ethics Committee and a current member of The Florida Bar Juvenile Court Rules Committee.

Coughlin is a member of the board of directors for the Community Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation and the board of trustees for Daniel Kids and is vice president of the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation.

A former assistant state attorney, Coughlin graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2004.

Asghar Syed, a Gunster shareholder, is treasurer.

He is chair of the board of governors of Baptist Health Jacksonville and one of the founders of TedX Jacksonville.

Syed graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2010.

Secretary Adina Pollan is a partner at McGlinchey Stafford.

She is vice chair of The Florida Bar Standard Jury Instructions Committee – Contracts and Business and received the 2021-22 “Leaders in Law” award from the Florida Association of Women Lawyers on behalf of the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association.

A graduate of the University of Florida Levin College of Law, Pollan was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2005 and is a former law clerk for U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jerry Funk.

The new officers and the 2024-25 board of governors will be sworn in June 27 at the JBA members luncheon.
