Moves continue at St. Johns Town Center as landlord Simon Property Group rearranges retailers to accommodate new names and assimilate them with existing stores.

Apparel and accessories retailers, especially those that include women’s clothing, are the major moves.

The city issued a permit May 30 for women’s apparel retailer Loft to renovate at 4790 River City Drive, Unit 113, at a project cost of $185,000. Management Resource Systems Inc. of High Point, North Carolina, is the contractor for the 4,387-square-foot store.

Loft and J. Crew are moving to make way for Canadian fashion retailer Aritzia.

Loft is currently in a temporary space at 4712 River City Drive, Suite 117, between California Pizza Kitchen and Claire’s. The space previously was the Copper Closet.

Loft is moving into the former Bath & Body Works space. Bath & Body Works moved to a larger space at 4791 River City Drive, No. 113, which previously was the Microsoft store.

That store closed in late March 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Microsoft Corp. announced June 26, 2020, it would permanently close all of its physical store locations. ...

J. Crew, a men and women’s clothing retailer, is relocating to the former Altar’d State store at 4751 River City Drive, Space 125. The city issued a permit March 15 to build-out the 5,117-square-foot space at a project cost of $903,832.

Altar’d State, also a women’s clothing retailer, moved into a larger store at 4712 River City Drive, No. 131.

Aritzia, which sells women’s apparel, is building-out 8,344 square feet of space at 4751 River City Drive, No. 101, at a cost of $2.58 million. The city issued that permit April 4.

The permit follows one Feb. 12 for landlord Simon Property Group to prepare the shell space at a cost of $268,000 for the Canadian retailer. It is Aritzia’s first store in the market.

Aritzia will open in the former J. Crew and Loft spaces that totaled more than 11,000 square feet of space.

Aritzia’s lease left 3,434 square feet in Space 107, where women’s clothing retailer White House Black Market is building-out at a cost of $500,000. That permit was issued April 1.

St. Johns Town Center is in South Jacksonville at northwest Butler Boulevard and Interstate 295.
