Chipotle is coming to the St. Johns County in the master-planned Beachwalk community.

The county issued a permit Oct. 21 for Duffey Southeast Inc. of Cedartown, Georgia, to build-out the fast-casual restaurant at 385 Beachwalk Shore Drive in Saint Johns.

The freestanding restaurant is part of a strip of retail buildings along Beachwalk Shore Drive facing County Road 210.

The project cost is $1.2 million for the 2,500-square-foot building with a drive-thru with parking spaces, according to site plans. Fort Lauderdale-based PEBB Enterprises, through Beachwalk Retail Center IL, LLC, is the landowner.

The site is about 2 miles east of Interstate 95 off County Road 210. It is north of the Publix-anchored Shoppes at Beachwalk between Kilwins Chocolate, Fudge, and Ice Cream shop and Island Fin Poké Co.

Chipotle serves, burritos, tacos and “lifestyle bowls” that cater to vegan, vegetarian, keto and other dietary options.

Chipotle.com says there are 3,428 locations operating nationally as of Aug. 13.
