The city issued a permit Sept. 3 for GXO Logistics Supply Chain Inc. to make tenant improvements at a project cost of almost $3.27 million in the 168,000-square-foot Building 2 in Perimeter West Industrial Park in Northwest Jacksonville.

GXO Logistics will take the space previously leased by Williams-Sonoma Inc.

Samet Corp. of North Charleston, South Carolina, is the contractor.

The building was developed in 2022 at 4259 Perimeter Industrial Parkway W., at northeast Interstate 295 and Pritchard Road.

Jacksonville-based Skinner Bros. Realty said it handles property management for the structure.

“With easy access to I-295 and in the heart of one of Jacksonville’s major industrial areas, this single tenant building sits on 10.5 acres of land and is occupied by GXO Logistics Supply Chain, Inc.,” says a post at SkinnerRealty.com.

Plans show storage and pallet racking along with bin shelving and space for other functions.

GXO.com says it is “the largest pure-play contract logistics provider in the world.”

It says it has about 200 million square feet of warehouse space among 970 warehouse locations with 130,000 employees in 27 countries.

The site says revenue was $9.8 billion in 2023 with a quarter of Fortune 100 companies as customers.

JLL Executive Managing Director Luke Pope represented Rooker, the building’s developer, in the Williams-Sonoma lease.

Principal and President J.R. Richardson and Senior Vice President Rich Antczak with Newmark Phoenix Realty Group and Brian Knowles, a founding principal of Lee & Associates of Eastern Pennsylvania LLC, represented Williams-Sonoma in the lease.

Pope said previously that GXO replaced Williams-Sonoma, which opened there in 2022 but left after a few months.

The Atlanta-based Rooker real estate development company sold the Williams-Sonoma Inc. distribution center in February 2023 for $20.7 million to a Connecticut-based investor.

Through Jacksonville Royce LLC, JB Capital Management LLC bought the property.

GXO Logistics counts among its clients global aerospace company The Boeing Co.

Boeing recognized GXO as one of its top suppliers of the year in 2022.

“It’s an honor to receive this ‘Supplier of the Year for Support & Services’ award from Boeing,” said Bill Fraine, chief commercial officer at GXO, about the 2022 recognition.

“We look forward to continuing our work with Boeing to ensure aerospace is safe and sustainable.”

GXO received the award for its role in supporting Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner, 737, V-22, CH-47, P-8, KC-46 and C-17 programs, among others.

GXO Logistics says it is benefiting from the rapid growth of e-commerce, automation and outsourcing.

“The company partners with the world’s leading blue-chip companies to solve complex logistics challenges with technologically advanced supply chain and ecommerce solutions, at scale and with speed,” it says.

GXO is based in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Greenwich-based XPO Inc., a freight transportation provider, announced in December 2020 it would spin off its global contract logistics segment into a separate company.

In March 2021, XPO announced the new name of the firm as GXO Logistics Inc.
