The city issued a permit Sept. 4 for Players Grille to build-out on the ground floor of Home2 Suites by Hilton Jacksonville Downtown at a project cost of $1.2 million.

Avant Construction Group of Jacksonville and AVS Builders Inc. of St. Augustine are shown as contractors for the project at 600 Park St.

JAA Architecture, also based in Jacksonville, is the architect.

Plans show a 4,619-square-foot project that includes a 1,746-square-foot patio. Owners said in May it will have indoor and outdoor seating for about 160 customers.

Players Grille leased the ground-floor restaurant space at the Home2 Suites in the Brooklyn area of Downtown.

PlayersGrille.com says the Brooklyn location will open this fall. “This location will serve Five Points, Riverside, and Brooklyn, plus downtown Jacksonville,” it says.

The hotel project is a partnership between Kelco Management and Development Inc. and Corner Lot Development Group, who announced the restaurant in July 2023.

They said in a news release Players Grille would have 5,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space and offer an arcade game room.

The menu features sports bar fare that includes burgers, wings, chicken tenders, grilled chicken, grilled fish, chicken and tuna salad, salads, starters, sandwiches, desserts, drinks, cocktails, beer and wine.

“The casual sports vibe at the Players Grille (is) the perfect partner for Corner Lot, our vision of Home2 Suites, and the ambiance we want to provide for the street-side dining experience in Brooklyn,” Corner Lot CEO Andy Allen said in the release.

Corner Lot announced April 5 the hotel had opened.

The six-story, 100-room, 62,483-square-foot extended-stay hotel was developed at a cost of $16.2 million. Pinkerton & Laws was the contractor.

The site plan for the Home2 Suites by Hilton project.

The site is at Park, Rosselle and Chelsea streets near Interstate 95 and the Five Points business district.

The Jacksonville City Council approved a $2.38 million grant for owner Kelco Brooklyn LLC in May 2022. The grant will be repaid over 10 years with annual installments of $238,522.

PlayersGrille.com says it also has a Mandarin location at 10140 San Jose Blvd.

The former Miramar location was sold and is now Players Locker Room. An OakLeaf location is no longer listed on the Players Grille website.
