BJ’s Wholesale Club announced that the membership center for its planned Beachwalk store in St. Johns County opens Sept. 13.
The membership center is at 124 Beachwalk Blvd. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
BJ’s is offering discounted “Founding” offers until Dec. 5, which include a basic one-year membership for $25. A Club+ Card Membership is available for $70 and offers additional discounts. For more information, visit BJs.com/StJohns or visit the center.
The website says the store will open in the winter of 2024.
According to a Sept. 12 news release, the BJ’s will feature fresh foods, including produce, bakery items and a full-service deli. It will also offer seasonal items, home decor, electronics, apparel and other items.
St. Johns County issued a building permit June 27 for the $9 million, 104,298-square-foot store. Separate permits were issued for an on-site gas station with 24 pumps, costing $946,000 at that time. The store’s foundation plans, costing $4 million, were approved May 16. BJ’s announced its plans for the store April 30.
The land is owned by Twin Creeks SPE LLC of Boca Raton.
The BJ’s will be its 41st in the state, joining four other stores in Northeast Florida: River City Marketplace in North Jacksonville; Atlantic Boulevard in East Arlington; Philips Highway near Baymeadows; and Blanding Boulevard in Orange Park. The company also has a distribution center in West Jacksonville.
In addition to this Florida expansion, which includes a location in Brooksville, BJ’s said it plans to open six new clubs across the Southeast and Midwest in early 2025.
Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Marlborough, Massachusetts, BJ’s Wholesale Club operates 244 clubs nationwide.
