Plans are moving forward for Panera Bread in the master-planned Beachwalk community in St. Johns County.

The county issued a permit Sept. 16 for the stand-alone bakery-cafe to build-out at 55 Beachwalk Shore Drive.

A Panera Bread with a drive-thru is planned in Beachwalk, a master-planned community in St. Johns County.

It is near the Shoppes at Beachwalk retail center anchored by a Publix supermarket.

The 3,220-square-foot restaurant will have a drive-thru and 40 parking spaces, plans show.

The project cost is $400,000.

Panera has been opening stand-alone restaurants with drive-thrus as it leaves its in-line locations in strip shopping centers.

It will be the fifth Panera in St. Johns, according to the company website. There are 13 locations in Jacksonville and 2,022 across the country.
