The Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Evaluation Committee on Sept. 20 recommended a $99,750 contractual performance bonus for CEO Mark VanLoh.

VanLoh, who has led the JAA since December 2018, is also expected to receive a 3% cost-of-living adjustment to his current $375,000 annual salary, an increase of more than $11,000.

JAA board members serving on the committee include Chair Michelle Barnett, David Hodges Jr., Fernando Acosta-Rua and Sol Brotman.

The committee emphasized the need for VanLoh to continue to focus on financial performance; expansion of routes out of Jacksonville International Airport, including the feasibility of flights to Europe; community engagement; and employee satisfaction.

He was commended for JIA’s recent high ranking in a J.D. Power customer satisfaction survey, which placed the airport second among medium-sized hubs Sept. 18.

VanLoh oversees Jacksonville’s four-airport system, comprising JIA, Herlong Recreational Airport, Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport and Cecil Airport/Cecil Spaceport. He advises the JAA board and represents the authority in the community.

Before joining JAA, VanLoh was president and CEO of Tulsa Airports Authority and the director of aviation for the Kansas City Aviation Department. He began his career with Pan American Airlines after serving in the U.S. Army.

VanLoh is active in industry organizations, including Airports Council International and the American Association of Airport Executives. He also serves on the board of the International Association of Airport Executives.

Additionally, he is a member of several local organizations, including The Players Council and The Gator Bowl Association.

The recommended bonus and cost-of-living adjustment for VanLoh require approval from the full JAA board, which meets bi-monthly. The board’s Sept. 23 meeting is canceled.
