Specifics: The building is 15 stories, including two stories of penthouse or equipment space. The building was designed by KBJ Architects and was built by Daniel Construction Co. The building has 460,000 gross square feet and usable space is 378,000 square feet.
Changes: The company is currently removing “Transportation” from the building’s sign.
Number of employees: 950 in the building and 500 more in the BellSouth tower.
Tenants: Coastline Credit Union and Robert’s Barber Shop. CSX Transportation does not actively lease space to outside tenants.
Amenities: A cafeteria, which was renovated two years ago, and a YMCA for employees only. There is also a card access security system. “We have a fairly new building control system which controls the environment, including the heating and cooling of the building,” said Trolle. “That was installed in 1997. We also upgraded the lighting to T-8 lamps and electronic ballasts. It is a more energy efficient lighting system.”
Parking: There is a company parking lot at the building.
Current renovations: A fire sprinkler system is being added to the building. “We are renovating floors to some degree, including putting in new carpet and wall coverings,” said Trolle.
Future plans: There are no current plans to expand the building or construct a new one. “We don’t have any immediate growth plans, we think we are OK for the next several years. We have been adding space at the BellSouth tower a little bit at a time, but we don’t have any plans to do anything for the next few years.”
