Jacksonville Public Library Director Barbara Gubbin (center) got a nice end-of-April present Wednesday in the form of a $150,000 check from the Friends of the Public Library. The money was raised during the recent book sale at the Fairgrounds. Friends President Jackie Nash and Chair of Library’s Board of Trustees Bill Scheu presented both the oversized and real check to Gubbin. Nash said the money will help offset budget cuts from the state and go to programs such as murals and “Book Bunches” which helps people establish book clubs.
