Jacksonville’s legal community increased by 18 Friday as new members were sworn in to the Florida Bar at the Bryan Simpson United States Courthouse.

The latest group of new attorneys took the Bar exam in February and were sworn in by U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Corrigan Friday. Courtney Grimm spoke to the new attorneys on behalf of the Jacksonville Bar Association and Florida Coastal School of Law Dean Peter Goplerud congratulated a group that consisted of 14 who graduated from from Coastal Law.

Grimm informed the group of the various benefits of joining the JBA, which include the association’s mentoring program. She explained how useful this service could be to a new attorney going out on their own who may not have the support available to their colleagues who join larger firms.

“It’s good to have someone who you can talk to and ask questions when you run into something you haven’t experienced before,” said Grimm.
