Field of practice: Community development which involves nonprofit law and real estate development

Professional Organizations: The Florida Alliance of Community Development Corporations, the Urban Land Institute and the JBA.

Community Involvement: the Pilot Club (Port of Jax), a service organization whose projects and fundraising are mostly to help people with brain-related injuries.

How did you get involved?

A friend invited me to join and after attending the club’s first tour at Old City Cemetery, I became a guide in the next 10 tours at Evergreen Cemetery. The Club’s research has uncovered some fascinating local history.

How can someone else get involved?

The Web site is www.pilotclub.org. The next tour is in April 2010 and we could definitely use help from anyone who enjoys historical tours enough to make the commitment.

What have you learned/achieved through the experience?

I now know more about this City’s history than any place I have ever lived (and I moved many times as an Air Force brat). I also have many non-lawyer friends whom I would not have met without the Club.

What was the last book you read or are reading?

I try to alternate between fiction and nonfiction. My last nonfiction book was Paul Polak’s “Out of Poverty” about practical ways to help people earn more income and the fiction book was called “Special Topics in Calamity Physics” by Marisha Pessl.
