November Art Walk ushers in new venues, weather

There was no rain, no sweltering heat or mugginess during the November Art Walk Wednesday. Instead, there was a hint of cool weather and several new venues, shows and features that attracted large crowds during the monthly Downtown fixture.

The event kicked off the City’s “Week of Valor” with a military theme featuring the “Sound of Freedom” Navy band at Hemming Plaza and Week of Valor book display at the Main Library.

Other attractions included a black-tie, red-carpet event at the Florida Theatre for the premier of “Chiaroscuro, Baby,”; grand openings of the 229 North Hogan and Southlight Gallery galleries; a new art venue at Florida Bank; Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra open rehearsal of Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana,” conducted by Fabio Machetti; and members of AIGA Jacksonville craft their live “Atomic Sketch” project at 122 Ocean: The Library.

The November Art Walk featured more than 26 live music venues, more than a dozen late night spots and dozens of art venues.

The next Art Walk is Dec. 2.
