With daughters Michal and Virginia, wife Kathi and Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland looking on, City Council member Kevin Hyde makes his mayoral run official Tuesday by filing the necessary paperwork.

“It feels different this time,” he said. “It’s an exciting day for us.”

In his first brief speech following the signing, Hyde — an attorney with Foley & Lardner — said his priorities included fiscal restraint, public safety, education and the St. Johns River, while also thanking his family, Foley & Lardner associates and friends for their support. Council member Michael Corrigan and former Council member Gwen Yates both attended the occasion, along with around 20 others.
